The Simca Life Located just off the Pacific coast of Panama, Jean Pigozzi’s private island is accessible by boat or plane but once you’re there, there is no other civilization in sight. It’s a good thing, then, that the sprawling, brilliantly colored home is itself filled with electricity and humanity. It took Pigozzi 10 years and many millions of dollars to create this high-tech, mountaintop hacienda, which is flush with items from his incredible collection of African art, plus Memphis-style furniture, chandeliers from the set of the movie Tower Heist (in which Pigozzi made a cameo), Murano glasswork, and ever shifting neon-colored LEDs. Pigozzi has made the space so much his own, he’s changed the island’s name from Isla Canales de Tierra to Isla Simca, after his father’s automotive company. Photographs by Adriana Santiago..
